Arun Bongirwar Public Service Excellence Awards (ABPSEA)

Awards have been instituted to recognise the outstanding work of two civil servants from Maharashtra, every year, one for an IAS officer and the other for an official in any other government service, by Arun Bongirwar Foundation (ABF) along with the Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA), Government of Maharashtra.

Each of the two award winners will receive prize worth Rs. 1,00,000/- and a Certificate from ABF and YASHADA. The nominations for the 2019 awards were accepted through digital channel hosted on YASHADA website. The application form was carefully designed to make it comprehensive yet concise.

A thorough selection process followed by the YASHADA technical sub-committee (formed by a faculty member from Development Administration, Research and Information Technology sectors) and an eminent jury panel included assessment criteria for evaluating the merit of each application, the key ones being

(i) Innovation and transparency in implementation

(ii) Level of inclusiveness for stakeholders

(iii) Exceptional achievement and outcome

(iv) Positive impact and sustenance

The application and selection process alongwith the assessment criteria are further elaborated on the YASHADA website.

The award winners will get the opportunity to make a brief speech about their work and ideas during the award ceremony on the 18th May, 2019 (birth anniversary of Mr. Arun Bongirwar) at Mumbai. The award winners will also be recommended to TEDX to enable them to deliver a talk in TEDX format. If selected they will be coached by professional team from TEDX and the curated video of their talk will get uploaded on TEDX. This effort is made by ABF in order to promote the good work of the winners and inspire many more to do similarly innovative and impactful work in Public Services.

Enjoy your time in public service. It may well be one of the most interesting and challenging times of your life.
